PR Campaigns On Hold in Bangkok

Thailand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has ordered all ministers to put their PR campaigns on hold beginning May 6, in a sign that the prime minister will seek to dissolve the House of Representatives as he had promised by the first week of May. The reason for the the move has to do with concerns that election laws had been violated.

The prime minister ordered all ministers and political office holders to remove all PR billboards, and suggested that they should not use their official state vehicles wile on the campaign trail. He said that next week's cabinet meeting would be the last official one, and invited ministers and executives of relevant agencies to discuss the agenda in advance so that the last meeting would be a smooth one. The Election Commission chairman said that the commission was ready to hold the next general election, and the Senate has already approved three draft laws for the constitution that are related to the election.
